Some say, "Let it snow." I say no, no, no! Snow does add moisture, but the whole snow thing in the desert is not why we moved here.
As we drove away from Oak Park in 2007, we hoped to never have to shovel snow again. We did see snow on our farm the first time we looked at the property. It was when I first thought it was one of the most peaceful and beautiful places. It did have snow, but the person showing us the farm had sandals on, how much snow could this area get?
Turns out, it makes for a beautiful day, but with little energy produced by us. The complete coverage of our solar panels didn't matter when the sun was not out. This does seem to be one of the issues with solar, no sun-no power.
As the snow is melting, we are getting moisture into the soil, so that's a good thing. Hopefully, the weather has this out of the system and we are good for the season. It's hard to take care of animals when the water freezes. It's not fun to take care of the animals when it's cold.
As for me, I moved to the desert for warm winters. Any time now....
